AMO Prayer Guide

What is the Week of Prayer for Dover Baptist Association Missions?

Dover Baptists observe a Week of Prayer for Association Missions in May each year. We share specific prayer requests. We also use it to inform the churches about the role and work of the association. The week of prayer helps call attention to and connect Dover Baptists with a variety of local missions and ministries too.

Dover Baptist Association provides resources, consulting services, leadership training, and many other services that help our churches. Dover congregations give a portion of their regular offerings to fund most of the association’s ministries. This special offering supplements and helps support more ministries and mission efforts, not the association’s budget.

Suggestions for Promoting the Week of Prayer for Association Missions

  • Pray and ask others to pray for association missions
  • Put Missions Week announcements in bulletins, newsletters, e-mail, and on the church website
  • Display Missions Week posters in prominent places
  • Have an association missions offering presentation or enlist a speaker to tell about Dover’s ministries
  • Distribute Prayer Guides and special offering envelopes provided for your church (available from the association office)
  • Receive a special association missions offering
  • Recognize persons in your church who volunteer in the work of Dover and/or tell how Dover has helped your church

On Sunday, May 18:
Pray for the association and its leaders and pray for the churches that form Dover, their pastors, and staff members.
Ask God to direct them and help each one to stay faithful and focused on God’s work in our local mission field.
    On Thursday, May 22
Pray for Central Virginia Raceway Ministries and all who volunteer.

Your gifts will share the cost of providing the Gospel witness and ministry at the Richmond International Raceway.
On Monday, May 19:
Pray for inner city ministries.

We help to share the ministry costs of Oregon Hill Baptist Center, Church Hill Wellness Center, South Richmond Baptist Center. By helping them, Dover Baptists help meet the spiritual and physical needs of some of the area’s inner city residents.
    On Friday, May 23:
Pray for Medical Ministries and Jail
Ministries, Those Who Lead Them and
Those Who Need Them.

These ministries help provide healthcare for needy persons, and they help provide ministries that help people find true freedom through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for those who minister and for those to whom they minister, including their families.
On Tuesday, May 20:
Pray for our partners in Macedonia and Partnership Missions.
Through our partnership, Dover Baptists help fund the work of Macedonian Baptists in Eastern Europe. Our offerings also provide scholarships for Dover Baptists to go on partnership mission trips.
    On Saturday, May 24:
Pray for Christian Leadership Development.

These gifts help develop a new generation of leaders who will live out their faith in the work place.
On Wednesday, May 21:
Pray for ministers and their families.
Our mission offering can help to pay for the needs of Dover ministers and families in crisis.
    On Sunday, May 25:
Pray for the ministries to our greater Christian community.

As you pray for ministries in your area, ask God which ministries your church might nominate. These gifts can open up new areas of ministry for Dover Baptists.
(Dover Office has the grant guidelines.)
Keep on praying:
Thank God for Dover Baptist Association and all God does in Dover.

Take an active part. Pray, give your time, and use your resources as we help people see Christ by doing missions together.
