September 2008 LAMP News from Louis Orsatti
God brought Louis Orsatti and his family to us five years ago. Their visa gave them five years here. It expired on June 2, before the U. S. government had finished processing their application to stay. In order to comply with U. S. law, Louis and his family returned to Mexico just before their visa expired. (Two adult children remain here on student visas.) Here is the latest news from Louis.
Report from Mexico
I am still visiting churches on Sundays, offering the presentation that I have prepared, talking about the ministry in Virginia, and asking people to support us in prayer.
We have an apartment in Toluca City (near Mexico City), which is an hour commute for us. There are a several couples in our apartment building whom we have been in contact with, and one of them received Jesus last week. This week I am starting a Bible study and discipleship with them, and they are inviting some friends to join us.
Next door to the apartment is a Nazarene church, I have spoken with the pastor, and he has invited us to speak at his church later this month.
Some of the churches had decide to support us, while some churches want to see the presentation first.
This week I will pick up Biblical based literacy material from a Christian group. I am preparing a set of Bible Stories, which will be given to a Latino missionary in Angahuan. The missionary's name is Isidro, a native of Angahuan, and I think the Bible stories will fit their cultural context.
With the Baptist Convention in Mexico, God has give me a vision for Latinos in Virginia who accept Jesus, to contact their relatives in Mexico.
The Latino believers need to send a letter to a local church near their family in Mexico. Each church will visit with the letters. I have sent an email to Greg and Sue Smith, explaining the letter format, so they can forward to all the Latino pastors in Virginia to participate in this "project."
Members of Monte Calvario and Maranatha (Habacuc church) are participating in a trial run of this ministry. Please pray for this opportunity to reach the lost in Mexico.
Pray as well for my mother and for my mother in law, both are having health problems. My mother needs a hip surgery, and my mother in law is taking a strong treatment for tuberculosis bacteria.
I am sending weekly radio programs, that include news and interviews with some of the members of the churches. Some church members have heard the radio programs, and they enjoy them.
Monte Calvario is doing very well, more people are coming to the services, and we continue to have new believers.
I still have contact with Daniel Carro and Jim Benson. Rebeca and I want to remain connected with John Leland Seminary, and we are thankful that they are sharing our request to contact the families of new Latino Christians living in Virginia.
I will continue sharing with you our missionary trip, and we want to return soon. We want to work together with you, and reach the lost in Virginia.
I miss you very much, and love you all.
Blessings,
Louis Orsatti
