Dover Marriage Enrichment Opportunities
Almost half of American marriages end in divorce, this is not a surprising statistic for many of us today. What may be surprising is what local churches and other organizations are doing to enrich marriages.
Several Dover Baptist churches are actively seeking to not only improve the number of successful marriages, but are also seeking to enrich marriages in a way that honors God. Some churches offer seminars and small group support.
Berea Baptist Church, Dover Baptist Church, and Goochland Baptist Church joined together for an intense weekend seminar. The seminar included financial advice for married couples, and how to deal with financial issues. VIPCare offered marriage counseling resources. Other Dover churches that have offered marriage enrichment opportunities are: First Baptist Church Ashland, Gwathmey Baptist Church, and New Highland Baptist Church.
First Things First, a non-profit organization in Richmond, provides resources for marriage enrichment. Daddy Boot Camp is a program to train new fathers, this program meets at local hospitals and other locations. First Things First has a resource center that is available, visit their website for more information.
A marriage enrichment film that will be released this fall is Fireproof. The husband is a dedicated fireman, considered a hero by everyone--but his wife. This movie is about his fight to save their marriage. Dover Baptist Association, along with Central Virginia Baptist Ministries and First Things First, is currently working to promote Fireproof being available in the Richmond area. More information on Fireproof can be found here.
Marriages are an important institution to Dover Baptist Association. We strive to support churches, and other organizations, who help promote healthy marriages. If you would like to share what your organization is doing to promote healthy marriages, please email us!
