2008 World Day of Prayer

The Baptist World Alliance Women's Department held a Day of Prayer that spanned the entire globe. Each region of the world had specific prayer requests.

The 2008 World Day of Prayer was held at Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Women and men were united in prayer with others all over the world. Each region of the globe had specific prayer requests. The regions are: Baptist Women's Union of Africa, Asian Baptist Women's Union, Caribbean Baptist Women's Union, European Baptist Women's Union, Baptist Women's of Latin America, North American Baptist Women's Union, and Baptist Women's Union of the South West Pacific.

This year's prayer focus was on missions, and how Baptists were reaching people for Christ all over the world. Some of the featured mission projects were a community health and evangelism center in Haiti, and a literacy program in the Dominican Republic. There were three retired missionaries present at this year's Dover World of Prayer. Mrs. Hazel Watson (retired missionary to Japan) was one of the missionaries present.
