Working and Serving Together—A Covenant Between Partners in the Gospel

Believing that God has connected us in various ways and that our churches, their leaders, and the associations formed by the churches can strengthen and encourage one another as we serve Jesus Christ in our respective settings, the churches of Baltimore Baptist Association and Dover Baptist Association make this covenant together.

We rejoice that God has given us complementary gifts for shared service. We believe that God works in and through the people who form the Body of Christ in the local church. Therefore, each pledges to:

• Pray continually for one another
• Devote resources to forming new congregations and Gospel communities
• Evangelize the people groups to whom God sends us
• Transform our communities through work and witness
• Mobilize the gifted servants God has placed among us
• Develop and encourage leaders, beginning in the churches

We enter this partnership as servants of Christ who will both serve and be served by one another. To do this, we will travel to each other’s places of ministry. We will share our experience and expertise. At times we will serve alongside each other. While we do this, we will respect the autonomy of each partnering church and association. We acknowledge that the participating churches and associations may have varying Baptist affiliations. Those affiliations not withstanding, we enter this partnership to facilitate advancing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to work together to offer Christ to the people where we serve.

We understand that we share God’s work as partners at this time. We also understand that our partnership will involve mutual commitments from the resources entrusted to us. This
